Introduction
SOHCO Amalinda Housing is a Section 21 non-profit distributing company committed to the development and management of social housing in the Buffalo City, Cape Town and Durban Metropolitan areas of South Africa. The company’s primary purpose is the development of quality, affordable residential property for low income households, and in particular formerly disadvantaged members of the community who qualify for the government housing subsidy. This includes families with special needs such as the disabled, young adults with a regular income and single parent families.

SOHCO has developed three exciting new Durban projects:

River View

River View is a 330 unit development along the banks of the Umkhumbaan River. Situated in the Cato Manor area this development is made up of three and four storey walk-up blocks of flats.

Port View

Port View is a 142 unit inner city development situated on the corner of St George's Street and Diakonia Avenue that has resulted from the conversion of four buildings to affordable rental residential units and ground floor commercial units.

Valley View

Valley View is a 157 unit development on the crest of Charles Winser Drive, Hillary. Units are built in two to four storey walk up blocks of flats. The flats are two bedroom units overlooking the city and suburb of Seaview and Hillary.

Amalinda Village

The Amalinda project consists of one, two and three bedroom units housed in a cluster-type design. These units are affordable, good quality homes located close to places of employment.

Emerald Sky (Handing over)

Emerald Sky is located on Leighton Rd off Amalinda Main Road, Amalinda East London. The development is close to schools, shopping centres, transport nodes and employment.

Cape Town SOHCO's Steenberg development (also handing over)....

Steenberg

Located in Cape Town on Military Road, Steenberg - directly adjacent to the Steenberg Station, bus and taxi route. Near a church, mosque and a community recreation hall that facilitates indoor basket ball and ballroom dancing for children and adults, act as a pension and grant pay point and soccer. Crèches, primary and high schools are close to the site.
